Logic Studio Piano VS Keyscape! Which is truly THE BEST Piano VST Of 2025!?
In this video, I compare two of the most talked-about piano sounds in music production today: the Studio Grand from Logic Pro 11 and the legendary Keyscape from Spectrasonics. One costs $400. The other is included with Logic Pro. So the question is — which one really sounds better?
Let’s Talk Price vs. Value
Keyscape is known for its massive library and deep tweakability, but it comes with a $399 price tag. On the flip side, Logic Pro is just $199 — and you get an entire DAW and a suite of instruments, including the Studio Grand.
That means the Logic piano alone technically costs a fraction of what Keyscape does. So how do they actually compare in a blind tone test?
The Sound Showdown: Logic vs Keyscape
Using a loop from my Loop Elements library, I switched back and forth between Logic’s Studio Grand and various Keyscape patches — including upright pianos and the famous LA Custom Grand. And honestly? Logic held its own — tone for tone, warmth for warmth.
Logic’s piano has a natural warmth in the midrange that doesn’t need much tweaking. Keyscape offers more tone-shaping options, sure — but the Logic sound is so good out of the gate, you may not even miss them.
What Logic Lacks, the DAW Covers
Keyscape has built-in reverb, EQ, compression, release shaping, and more. Logic’s piano doesn’t — but you’re inside a DAW, so you can add all that with Logic’s excellent stock plugins.
If you're looking for instant tweakability, Keyscape wins. But if you just want great tone with minimal CPU usage and no extra spending? Logic Studio Grand is a serious contender.
Want My Piano Presets?
I’ve created custom preset packs for both of these instruments to help you get the most out of them:
Whether you use Logic or Keyscape, these presets are designed for gospel, cinematic, and modern production tones. Just $10 — and they support the channel too.
Final Thoughts
If I was in Logic right now working on a track? I might not even reach for Keyscape. That’s how good the Logic Studio Grand sounds. So before you go spending hundreds on another plugin, make sure you’ve really explored what’s already in your DAW.
Let me know which piano you prefer in the comments — and definitely check out the presets if you're ready to unlock even more tone from your setup.
