The ONLY MIDI Controller I Use EVERYDAY!!
After two full years of use, the Roland A-88 MKII is still the one MIDI controller I reach for every single day. In this updated review, I break down how it's become the centerpiece of my studio and why I keep coming back to it, even after testing and reviewing dozens of other controllers.
Why I Still Use It Daily
I’m a minimalist when it comes to gear. I don’t need a controller with a million features. I want great feel, simple workflow, and reliable performance. The A-88 MKII delivers all of that — effortlessly.
Here’s what makes it my go-to:
- Incredible weighted keybed feel
- Simple layout with just enough control
- Dependable and rugged build quality
How I Use It
This controller is the brain behind my entire synth wall setup. I use it to control my Nord, Moog, Korg Nautilus, and more — all from a single board.
I’m not diving deep into MIDI 2.0 or DAW control. Honestly, I only use two buttons: Previous and Next. That’s it. I use it to change patches, play into my DAW, and stay focused on creating music without distractions.
